Beware the fierce beast which is named Monday.
It snarls and grumps and ruins all the pleasant thoughts from your head.
No more sleeping in, no more staying up late,
we must be out the door by a quarter to eight.
Rushing and moving, backpacks are flying.
Did you remember your math homework
and am I awake enough to do the driving?
My list for the week is a mile long and the Monday beast won't settle down,
but I will tackle it just the same
before the busy day causes me to go insane.
Coffee would be nice
perhaps a pot or two or three
Or maybe I'll just call in sick,
no, Mom's not in today.
I've gone on holiday.
I'll be back again on Saturday.
